Entrepreneur and influencer Hannah Bronfman is pregnant with her second child and shows no signs of stopping the aspirational fitness content we know and love her for. Now about halfway through her pregnancy, the 35-year-old shared a video on Instagram showcasing what a week of her prenatal workouts looks like at five months pregnant — and whether you’re expecting or not, you’ll want to take notes.
The video shows her hitting up a Tracy Anderson class, sweating with celeb trainer Kira Stokes, doing a reformer Pilates session, fitting in a strength workout at home using a Tonal device, taking a P.volve class, and finishing the week with a 12-3-30 session. In all, it looks like a balanced week of workouts for anyone, pregnant or otherwise. Here’s a little bit more about each of the workouts she showcases:
- The Tracy Anderson Method, a longtime favorite workout among celebs and socialites, uses choreographed moves, light weights, and lots of reps to target small muscles. Think: plenty of quadruped hip work like Bronfman is doing in the clip in her video.
- Celeb trainer Kira Stokes takes a no-BS approach to fitness and has been working with Bronfman for years. The two often do traditional strength work together, such as the Bulgarian split squats Bronfman is doing in this Reel.
- Reformer Pilates — really, all Pilates — has been having a moment for being a low-impact, rehabilitative, and strengthening practice that just feels good. It’s perfect for moms-to-be, like Bronfman, because of its emphasis on core strength and mind-body connection.
- Tonal, one of the high-end, mirror-like home gyms you can buy, is special because of its movable arms that provide cable-machine-style resistance to any moves you’re doing — while coaching you through them. Bronfman shows its versatility while moving through deadlifts and single-leg hip thrusts.
- P.volve is a low-impact functional strength method that uses resistance bands, ankle weights, sliders, and other tools to challenge your range of motion, balance, and core strength.
- The 12-3-30 workout is a simple treadmill routine in which you set the incline at 12 percent and the speed at 3 mph and continue for 30 minutes. It took the internet by storm in early 2021, but people are still loving it — including Bronfman — as an option for low-impact but demanding cardio.
Real talk: while this prenatal workout routine may work for Bronfman, it might be a lot of exercise for some expecting parents. Your activity levels during pregnancy will depend on how much you exercised before you became pregnant and also on what feels comfortable to you. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity every week for pregnant people, which is on par with the exercise recommendations for the general population. But if you’re new to exercise, you should start out slowly and gradually increase your activity, per ACOG, and no matter what, always chat with your doctor before jumping into a fitness routine when pregnant.
Bronfman, who has a 2-year-old son with her husband, Brendan Fallis, only shared the news of her second pregnancy a few days prior to posting this workout montage. She shared an Instagram photo of her sitting in a bath, holding her pregnant belly, announcing that she’s due in late spring/early summer. In the caption, she wrote: “baby number 2 wasn’t an easy lift and we’ll share more about our journey, promise. To all the parents and partners who have had to go deep and find their emotional perseverance, we see you and hold space for you.”
As promised, a few days later, Bronfman shared a video showing a glimpse into the fertility journey she and Fallis went through to have this baby, including IVF and losing a pregnancy in June 2022. “Finally letting out a sigh of relief knowing I’m half way through this pregnancy — it’s so hard to relax when you’ve lost a pregnancy and gone through so many needles and blood work to even make it happen,” she wrote in the caption. “There is still so much to unpack here but just showing a glimpse into what it took for our family to grow hopefully will normalize all the journeys.”
Here’s hoping Bronfman’s pregnancy continues to progress safely for both mom and baby . . . and that her prenatal workout routine keeps looking this good.
